Why are pets required to be on a leash?

The presence of pets has a negative impact on Riverlot 56’s resident wildlife. This in turn diminishes the Riverlot’s educational and recreational value. Dogs on leash are permitted in Riverlot 56; in line with the City of St Albert’s dog policy. The leash requirement ensures that resident wildlife will not be harmed. It also creates a comfortable, safe environment for all people visiting the area. It is expected that all dog waste will be picked-up and properly disposed of outside the Riverlot.
